Damn Hypocrites and Richard Madeley
Quick Links: Rant in Our Forums - As i am incapable of purchasing a record made after 1978 it is rare that i ever know what is going on with popular music. I don't mean this in an elitist "yah the Velvets" kind of way, i'd like to think i outgrew that years ago , about the same time i realised i love Hotel California and not in any super cool ironic way, rather that she does indeed have a lot of pretty pretty boys that she calls friends. No i much prefer to be middle aged well before my time and not understand young people and their new jazz long players. However someone has decided to put the radio on at work EVERY SINGLE DAY, so i am aware of some of todays popular beat artistes and one thing i have found highly entertaining is the "controversy" surrounding Tatu. Now my understanding of this is that its a fairly catchy tune fronted by two teenagers dressed as school girls who either are or rather pretend to be a Lesbian couple. This has been seen by some "media commentators/idiots" to be outrageous, and is promoting school girl lesbianism. Now call me sexist but as a male its pretty difficult to spot the downside of this , someone was on TV saying this would be like a red rag to a bull for peadophiles. Rubbish , lets get something straight, the majority of peadophiles are into small children , overtly sexualised teenage images are not what they are looking for , the fact that these girls pose as quite knowingly involved in a lesbian relationship is not the same as images of innocence misused that is at the very core of peadophilia. I think i would much rather my fourteen year old daughter was experimenting with snogging her best friend than suffering from a hateful eating disorder and getting drunk on cheap Lambrino before getting pregnant by some 14 year old car stealing scumbag from the local estate. Or perhaps thats just me. And of course Britanny Spears dressed as a schoolgirl singing "hit me baby one more time" is a pop classic and in no way marketed to appeal to the pigtail fantasy wanker in all of us. More to the point the whole Tatu phenomena should be applauded for annoying Richard Madeley and anything that irritates that gobshite is welcome. And while we are at it Madeley your new haircut doesn't make me forget you are a fucking shoplifter sunshine, there is no escape. now ram it.
