Cheers George, you've made me really chew this one over, seminal moments in life, quite cathartic

The minute that I heard Night Interlude by Nightmares on Wax http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sObWEaU6 ... re=related all I ever wanted to spin was chill out 8)

This tune sums up the chill out stuff that I've grown to love, collect and play out ever since...simple, lush and completely evokes a sun soaked poolside or beach.

It IS sunday 8)

...dammit....I'll squeeze the one in that I couldnt decide between :alien:

Hello..we have slowed things down so let's generate some misery.

Now I am not disinclined to enjoy the odd maudlin ballad, in fact many would say I am a weepy twat wallowing in ancient misery and generally being a self harming fiasco.

Harsh I feel..but that's difficult break ups for you.

But on that feel, I intend to present a song..

It's a song that has been covered by Rod Stewart and I understand the writhing dread those words bring on in many, the blonde tipped growling twat who has butchered many a record since his heyday, he's a feather cut from being Mike Bolton and only the fact he did many great songs as a youth is keeping him afloat...what he did to "downtown train" is perhaps a crime.

But this is still a great song and this is it's original performance, not the one by a big chinned Hull University student.

It's Crazy Horse, for those who don't know, and mostly i pity you, they are the band Neil Young plays proper Rock and Roll with, and this is the original line up before Danny Whitten got stupid and O'd at a ridiculously young age.

Danny Whitten wrote and sang this song..it has a proper three in the morning feel and if you aren't a bit teary by minute 2, it's just a bit of a shame...the devil is in the bits where his voice just doesn't get to the places you think it's going to.

I hope one person at least enjoys it..

Crazy Horse - I Don't want to talk about it.

Nostalgia makes this one of my favourite songs of all time.

Luckily for my young ears my dad seemed to be the ruler of the record player in our house ( my mother was all for Cliff Richard ) and one song I remember singing along to vividly was

The Small Faces - Itchycoo Park

My dad is an awkward bastard to understand, he never shows his emotions and is very guarded, but everytime I hear The Small Faces I remember him prancing around the hideously 70's styled room looking happy and carefree.

(I almost did not post this because, after reading all of your combined thoughts I concluded that my input may be a bit.....rough around the edges. However, these are truly some of the songs that came to mind first. So I just started typing my reply....but before I submitted it, I read through all of your replies......and now I feel like I just crashed a black-tie gathering of minds.
After further reflection, I decide to submit my reply. Afterall, in keeping with the illustrious tradition of this board, if you don't like it......you can Ram It! Bitches. :D )

When you say "greatest songs of all time" and "rock" and "as a matter of insistence".....all in the same context.....it clouds the waters my friend. So I'll stick with "rock" and "as a matter of insistence".

As ass hell is breaking loose in 2012 and the planet is in turmoil, you will find the following on my Road Warriors last CD:

Children of the Grave (Black Sabbath 1971, Master of reality)
Snowblind (Black Sabbath 1972, Volume 4)
Battery (Metallica 1986, Master of Puppets)
Poor Twisted Me (Metallica 1996, Load)
Knock 'em Dead Kid (Motley Crue 1983, Shout the the Devil)
Run to the Hills (Iron Maiden 1982, The Number of the Beast)
Heavens on Fire (Kiss 1984, Animalize)
Copperhead Road (Steve Earle 1988, Copperhead Road)
Another One Bites the Dust (Queen 1980, The Game)
Holy Diver (Dio 1983, Holy Diver)

I'll stop here. I can post my entire end of days CD if you want, but mind you there will be about 90 songs (.mp3). These ten are the first to cross my mind and would not necessarily be written in the above order.

Why these songs? Because they all get my blood pumping! The louder they are played the better they sound. Also, they fill me with the urge to visit violence upon every living thing within eyesight. They bring back memories of running the streets chasing girls and smoking a-lot of weed. Fights. Guy-songs. Man-songs.

For the less psychopathic, these are pretty good workout songs.

So, with the ultimate tribute, if I do get snuffed-out on or after 2012......I do hope it is to the sound of one of these tunes.

you didn't think Mr. Jackie was just gonna slink away in the face of your Tom Tom Club dance tunes, didja?

Perfection from Mr. Jackie Wilson.

You could release this song today, and the Greeks would stop rioting, Lindsay Lohan would enter rehab, that volcano would simmer down and Iran would send a fruit basket to Obama.

Never underestimate a good tune.

I'm just starting so I just should glide in gently.
This band were years ahead of their time in attituide, look and sound. They are as fresh today as they ever were and they were mainly a covers band. The video for this is fucking cool as well.

This is one of those self masturbatory all over tingle moments for me because I'm about to do the musical equivalent of God giving Moses the werd.

Is it just me or are some of your most beloved tunes off a CD that you scored off some dude you once worked with in Tesco or you got the word from your girlfriends postman...something that you came across in the most obscure way..and if that hadnt happened.....

Via this convoluted non billboard way I came across David & David.......

http://espanol.video.yahoo.com/watch/2843018/v2140926

Possibly one of the greatest albums that nobodys ever fucking heard of...here's their discography... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_%26_David

They're still bloody hard to track down (fuck all on Spotify) but a fair few of those tunes are on You Tube....fill yer boots....crackers every one of 'em
